Buying a domain as investment

If you're considering purchasing domain names for investment (either in the form of new registrations, or on the secondary resale market), it's important to focus on how you're actually going to make money from your portfolio of domains.

Remember, a domain name that is inactive and not generating traffic is worth nothing at all - in fact, it has a negative worth since you'll be required to pay a fee every year to maintain the registration.

My advice if you want to make money now is to buy domains mainly if you intend to raise it's value by making it into a website that attract some visitors.

Investing in plain domains (no website) for the future is risky and you have to be prepared for waiting, perhaps a couple of years, before you can sell them for a decent price.
